Plainfield North High School juniors Mowosimi Kolawole and Avik Nanga visited Kaitlyn Cannon’s fifth-grade classroom at Lincoln Elementary School in January to lead a short lesson on developing an entrepreneurial mindset.

The visit was part of a student-designed project created through the school’s Distributive Education Clubs of America (DECA), a business-focused organization.

During the lesson, students participated in a hands-on activity centered on saving and spending money, helping them build practical financial literacy skills they can apply in the future.

Lincoln students celebrated Grit Days by working together to solve winter-themed puzzles that became more challenging as they went. Through teamwork, perseverance, and problem-solving, students showed what it means to stick with a task even when it gets tough! We loved seeing students encourage one another, try new strategies, and celebrate their successes along the way. Way to go, Lincoln—your grit was on full display!

Students in 4th Grade wrote descriptive paragraphs about the Jack O Lantern they created. The 5 classes were mixed up and children had to guess which pumpkin was being described based on the clues. This gave students the opportunity to write for a real audience and understand the importance of using details to send a clear message in their writing.
